Acute lobar nephronia (ALN) is a localized bacterial infection of renal lobules, representing an intermediate stage between acute pyelonephritis and renal abscess. While well-described in children, ALN has been under-reported in adults. Accurate diagnosis is critical to ensure appropriate prolonged antibiotic therapy and to avoid unnecessary interventions.
