Nephrotic syndrome is distinctly unusual in patients with bacterial endocarditis. We report a 9-year-old boy who had nephrotic syndrome due to staphylococcal endocarditis. Diffuse endocapillary proliferative glomerulonephritis was diagnosed by renal biopsy. His proteinuria was completely normalized with antibiotic therapy alone. The pathogenesis of glomerular disease associated with endocarditis is discussed.
