Flash pulmonary edema (FPE), a rapidly progressing and potentially life-threatening form of pulmonary congestion, characterized by acute dyspnea and hypoxemia, which may necessitate endotracheal intubation. Following extubation, the emergence of respiratory distress and stridor may point to a rare but serious complication known as obstructive fibrinous tracheal pseudomembrane (OFTP). This condition results from a fibrinous structure that obstructs the tracheal lumen and is often difficult to diagnose. Here, we present a rare and clinically challenging case in which both FPE and OFTP developed sequentially in the same patient undergoing hemodialysis.
