In this article, the educational relationship between the midwifery profession from the perspective of adult education and the educational relationship between the midwife and the service recipient is evaluated from a multidimensional perspective. Considering that midwives assume a guiding, supportive and informative role during critical periods in women's lives, it is emphasized that their educational identity is an integral part of their professional competence. Adult education principles provide a guiding framework for many midwifery practices such as pregnancy education, prenatal and postnatal counseling, breastfeeding counseling. At the same time, education models based on self-directed and lifelong learning support continuous development in the professional development processes of midwives. In this study, the contributions of an adult education-based approach to the field were discussed by emphasizing both the educator and learner aspects of the midwifery profession.
