Objective: This study aimed to determine the opinions and experiences of operating room nurses regarding patient safety. Methods: A qualitative descriptive design was used in this study. Data were collected through online in-depth interviews with 21 operating room nurses working in different hospitals in Türkiye and analyzed using content analysis. Results: Two main themes emerged from the research data. These were risk factors for patient safety in the operating room and experiences with medical errors in the operating room. Sub-themes were related to individual, work environment and managerial factors, which were identified as risks affecting patient safety in the operating room. Conclusion: The key findings of this study characterize the critical elements that threaten patient safety and medical errors in the operating room and highlight the need for multifaceted interventions to address patient safety issues.
