METHODS A relational screening model was used for the study. The sample of this study consisted of 712 midwifery students studying in all midwifery departments in Türkiye between June and August 2022. Data of the study was collected with the Personal Information Form, Problem-Solving Inventory (PSI), Revised Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale (RSEIS), Compassion Scale (CS). Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation test, and multiple linear regression analysis were used in the statistical analysis of the data. RESULTS There is a negative and statistically significant moderate correlation between the students’ PSI, RSEIS, and CS total mean scores (p<0.001). In addition, there is a statistically significant moderate correlation between students’ RSEIS and CS total mean scores (p<0.001). CONCLUSION It has been determined that as the emotional intelligence and compassion levels of the students increase, their problem-solving skills increase. In addition, as students’ emotional intelligence levels increase, their compassion levels also increase.
