Objective: This study aims to examine the effect of video-based training on improving insulin administration skills, insulin dosing regimens, and home blood glucose monitoring in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: The prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted with 60 individuals with type 2 diabetes (control: n=30, intervention: n=30). Twelve videos on their mobile phones to improve their insulin administration and glucose measurement skills were sent to the patients in the intervention group three times a week via WhatsApp. A generalized Linear Model was used to analyze the data. Results: While the mean scores of the Insulin Administration Skill Form and the Blood Sugar Measurement Skill Form increased in both groups, the Group*Time interaction effect was not found statistically significant on the scores of both forms (P> .001). Conclusion: The results showed improvements in insulin administration, blood glucose measurement skills, and insulin doses in both groups. It can be modified with video-based training according to the needs of individuals with diabetes and clinical guidelines.
