Purpose: To assess the psycholinguistic and psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Novice Nurse Practitioner Role Transition (NNPRT) scale. Material and Methods: This research was conducted with a cross-sectional and methodological design with novice nurses at a university hospital (n=374). Data were collected through using a descriptive characteristics form and the NNPRT scale. The scale was developed to examine the perception of novice nurses concerning practitioner role transition experience. It consists of 40 items presented under five subscales. Each item is rated on a six-point Likert scale. To examine the content validity of the NNPRT scale items, the opinions of nine experts were obtained. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, split-half reliability, and item-total correlation analysis were used in the evaluation. Results: The item-based content validity index of the scale varied between .89 and 1.00, and the scale-based content validity index was .98. Prior to EFA and CFA, the KMO test and Bartlett's test of sphericity values of the Turkish version of the NNPRT scale were determined to be .92 and chi2 = 9895.412 (P = .000), respectively. Goodness-of-fit indices were also examined. It was determined that all the factor loads were at the level of 0.01, and the t values were greater than 2.56 and statistically significant. chi2/df was calculated as 2.66, RMSEA as .067, CFI as .881, GFI as .802, AGFI as .772, NFI as .824, IFI as .882, and TLI as .87. The exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses revealed that the Turkish version of the scale was consistent with a six-factor structure. The Cronbach alpha coefficient was .94, the Spearman-Brown coefficient was .808, Guttman's split-half coefficient was .805, the correlation between the forms was .678, and the item-total correlation varied between .48 and 50. Conclusion: The Turkish version of the NNPRT scale can use as a valid and reliable measurement instrument to measure novice nurses' perceived experience concerning their transition to the practitioner role.
