OBJECTIVE: To investigate the cases with unicornuate uterus treated at Zekai Tahir Burak Women Health Education and Research Hospital. STUDY DESIGN: Between the years of 1990 and 2000, 55 patients who were diagnosed as unicornuate uterus were involved in our study group retrospectively. RESULTS: Fifty-four (7.3%) patients had unicornuate uterus with rudimentary horn. One patient had unicornuate uterus without rudimentary horn. Sixty-seven percent of patients had primary infertility, 29% of patients had secondary infertility. In fourteen patients (25%) endometriosis was noted during laparoscopy or laparotomy. Unilateral renal agenesis was found in 28% cases, which were evaluated, for renal system anomalies. CONCLUSION: The unicornuate uterus with noncommunicating rudimentary horn was the most common type. Unicornuate uterus is associated with urinary system anomalies and is complicated by increased incidence of endometriosis.
