Objectives: To determine the level and accuracy of knowledge of women about the menopause and hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Study Design: Womens' view on the menopause and HRT were investigated using a questionnaire given to women attending to a menopause clinic. One hundred four postmenopausal women were interviewed. All the women in the study group were on HRT currently. Result: The present study showed that 71.2% of these women stated that they didn't have any information about menopause and HRT. Almost all of the respondents (89.4%) wanted further information. The majority of the women had started the therapy to reduce the menopausal symptoms. The media appeared to be a major source of information about the HRT. Only 13.5% of women reported that a medical doctor had informed them about hormone replacement. Conclusion: Majority of the women was not informed correctly about the effects of HRT. Almost all of the women had a desire for further information.
